I think your personal experience and knowledge about Rising supports your personal opinion argument. I think the site/list we are talking about might have its name misinterpreted by many people. The *list* name is "Probably the Best Free Security List in the World" What is good (not saying best or probably best) about the site is how *extensive* its list is, not how *selective* its list is. It is a free (to read) list, not a list of free software; the free software is software positioned higher above payware in each sublist. The listings and sub-listings themselves are 'massive'- 25 sections containing a couple of hundred items, the blog commentary on the lists is also huge, going back over a year. The big site is maintained by volunteers. The volunteer currently responsible for maintaining this specific list has been active on the site for 24 months - but he is keeping the listings fresh and up to date. The fact that Rising appears on two of the lists is not a credit to Rising, because the list isn't a 'best of' the various categories except when the volunteer flags it as his favorite, which he didn't do with Rising's. It may be significant that unlike the negative commentary about Rising's apps here, there was no negative commentary at the site in the 5 pages of commentary over the past year. -- Mike Easter
