I have XP. > Katherine Did you watch the update process as it proceeded, each step of the way? Were you able to watch the download progress bar so you were sure the files were downloaded? If you are not able to download the files you might consider running Malwarebytes Antimalware, click the 3rd tab and update the files, then on the 1st tab select Full Scan. I had trouble doing download due to a DNS trojan that changed some ip addresses in the registry, Windows Update tried to download the files but was unable, so I got messages similar to what you described.
