Hello! I've read that if I buy a version of Office 2007 now I will be able
to download the same version of Office 2010 when it's released. Can you
explain how this works? There are different ways to purchase Office and I
want to make sure I buy it in a way that is eligible for the free upgrade.
TIA

Here are some details and web page references that will help.

Buy Office 2007 - Office 2010 Free

http://office2010.microsoft.com/en-us/tech-guarantee/microsoft-office-2010-technology-guarantee-FX101825695.aspx

Use this handy chart - Buy 2007 Suite - Get THIS 2010 Suite

http://store.microsoft.com/microsoft/Office-Suites/category/202

OR

http://office2010.microsoft.com/en-us/tech-guarantee/microsoft-office-2010-technology-guarantee-faq-HA101812304.aspx

Then click on "What Office 2007 products qualify..."

(NOTE: Purchase and activate a qualifying Office 2007 product between March
5, 2010, and September 30, 2010, and you can download Office 2010 at no
additional cost.)

Microsoft decided to simplify the Office Suite 2010 lineup - so one cannot
assume IF they buy a particular 2007 suite (with free 2010 upgrade) they
will get the same products included in the free 2010 upgrade.

Thanks for the detailed reply. The only thing not provided in the FAQ is a
list of authorized resellers...?
