From: gianni on 14 Feb 2010 18:34 Hi! I have 4 PCs in my LAN and they are running under Windows XP (2 time PRO, 1 time Media Center, 1 time Home). I have a slow Internet connection with just 5 GB volume per months, so when I have to update all my PCs, it takes a lot of time and consumes my download volume. I would like to download all windows patches and updates just one time, store them in a file-server or NAS-server and then apply them to all my 4 PCs. Is there anyway to do that? Thank you very much for your help.

Figure out what downloads are offered, download them once (manually - not installing them) and install them manually on each machine. I'd say get the DVD ISO - but you have a 5GB (!?) limit monthly - DVDs can be 4GB. ;-) You might consider changing service providers - 5GB sounds like a cell phone. -- Shenan Stanley MS-MVP -- How To Ask Questions The Smart Way http://www.catb.org/~esr/faqs/smart-questions.html

Well, but how can I manually download the update? I get each time the windows update message in the task bar (yellow icon at the bottom right) and the only option I have is to install the update. > You might consider changing service providers - 5GB sounds like a cell > phone. No alternatives where I live: no cable, just sat or cell phone :-(
