From: Openallnight on 5 Apr 2010 10:24 In xp I have a user account created during setup called 'abc' which is part of the admin group. I also have the default administrator account. I want to delete the 'abc' account but I'm hesitant because I feel that I woont be able to logon then withthe administrator account. Reason is because when I go to switch users it only shows me the default 'guest account' and the account I'm currently logged on with 'abc'. It doesnt show me the default administrator account. Can I delete the 'abc' account safely? Thanks.
From: John John - MVP on 5 Apr 2010 10:45 You'll need to be logged on with *another* administrator account to delete the 'abc' account. You're not thinking of using the built-in Administrator account for your day to day use, are you? From: Openallnight on 5 Apr 2010 13:42 Thats the problem though, for some reason I cant log in as the Administrator account, I never get prompted for it. It's there in users and groups though. I'm logged on as abc account and want to delete this account, run sysprep and thats it, so I can captue the image and then restore it to another machine. From: John John - MVP on 5 Apr 2010 14:07 Logoff and then hit Ctrl+Alt+Delete twice and see if you get to a logon screen. Or enter "control userpasswords2" (without the quotes) in the Start menu Run box and change the way users log on.
