That sounds slightly alarming but I'll give it a go later if the
SuperDuper backup has the same problems.

In the meantime I've wiped the disk and restored from my parter's
MacBook Pro Time Machine backup since her laptop failed last week.
That one's a few years old and has died with the graphics card problem
- nvidia IIRC - several of her colleagues' MBPs which were all bought
together have gone over the last few months.

Several hours of restoring later it's a big thumbs up for the Time
Capsule.
