From: Al Dykes on 1 Sep 2008 14:23 I have an HP 3055 AiO and the printer does intermittent fading along one side of the paper. A new cart and shaking up the cart don't solve the problem. The status report says that it has printed 20k pages. Is this a fuser issue? I can find the p/n, RM1-3044-000CN but I can' find an online hardware manual. Is this a customer-replaceable item? Is this a customer-replaceable item? I would suspect so as it is listed as available for mere mortals at HP's parts (as opposed to authorized service providers only) site at http://h20141.www2.hp.com/hpparts/default.asp?ord_site=C&cc=US&lang=EN&PartNumber0=RM1-3044-000CN&PartQty0=1 I am not familiar with the 3055 and do not know whether it would solve the problem or how difficult it might be to install. With luck Tony will respond to your query. Regards, Bob Headrick

What is the precise distance between the start of the first fade and the start of the second fade? That will help to identify the problem. The fuser is not actually very easy to replace in this printer, I don't have the manual for this model but a manual for a similar model is available at http://www.feedroller.com/Store/hp_manuals.php Select the LaserJet 3015 3020 3030 all in 1 sm MFP.pdf document. Not identical but similar. Tony MS MVP Printing Image

I'm using genuine HP cartridges, here. When it began to fade, I put in a new cart, It was OK for a couple hundred pages and it came back while I was away. Someone put in a second new cartridge (not unreasonable for that person to do, not knowing the recent history of cartridge replacement.). It didn't fix the problem. -- Al Dykes News is something someone wants to suppress, everything else is advertising. - Lord Northcliffe, publisher of the Daily Mail
