From: sly on 3 Jul 2010 14:55 I have been successful in removing other software using my Control Panel, but nothing happens when clicking on Remove button for Ad-Aware. There is not any version listed. Any recommendations on removal?

You will find multiple keys that need to get deleted. Please be careful using the registry editor as you do not want to delete the whole key, but to speed up the search, search the starting from the following key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ You will find the name multiple times and you may need to delete it multiple times as the registry backs up it's own registry entries. If you have any questions feel free to ask before you delete, or make a backup yourself before you do the deletion. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Enum\Root You will find back ups of that key in the key with the ControlSet002 name as well as the following key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\ If you use multiple users, it's possible that it was installed multiple times for each user. From: Ǝиçεl on 3 Jul 2010 18:01 install a FREE program called Revo Uninstaller http://www.revouninstaller.com/revo_uninstaller_free_download.html> This program cleans out all registry items that the uninstall program leave behind. Just DON'T allow the computer to reboot if the uninstall portion of Revo asks if you want to reboot now or later. Select later and allow Revo to finish searching for orphan registry entries. Reboot after Revo finishes. -- "sly" wrote: > I have been successful in removing other software using my Control Panel, but > nothing happens when clicking on Remove button for Ad-Aware. Many programs include uninstall programs, most register that with the control panel application for add/remove, but some don't. Some have it as a menu item (start menu). Still others won't give you any indication at all. If you search the registry for "uninstallstring" without the quotes, you can find information as to the path (and switches) to the uninstaller for that item. What you really should do, is ask their support people how to do it.

Try re-installing Ad-Aware, then uninstalling it. I doubt this is a security admin issue. You would probably have a better chance of getting an informed answer if you asked Lavasoft. They have a user forum for users of their free product.
