From: n9ejs on 6 Feb 2010 02:56 I have a 91-year old senior citizen friend, whose kids just bought him a new computer with Windows 7 - and no e-mail program. He is attempting to use the Verizon web-mail, but he doesn't have the addresses from his old computer Outlook (??) program. Is there some way that his address book from the old computer be imported into his new computer, and then exported to his Verizon web-mail address book? Thanks!
From: PA Bear [MS MVP] on 6 Feb 2010 09:16 Was he using Outlook (OL) or Outlook Express (OE)? From: n9ejs on 6 Feb 2010 11:45 PA BEAR - He lives 30 mlies from me, and doesn't know which program he has on his old computer. I'm trying to get somebody over that way to fire up the old computer, get the program and version name. But it appears that while in that process, might as well copy down the addresses from it's address book and use them to create a new address book on Verizon web-mail. Also, somebody suggested that he should get Thunderbird e-mail program downloaded, and his e-mail addresses could be manually put in that also. When I get more information, I'll go back into the Windows 7 Mail forum you mention. Thanks very much! = = = = = = = = = On Feb 6, 8:16 am, "PA Bear [MS MVP]" <PABear...(a)gmail.com> wrote: > Was he using Outlook (OL) or Outlook Express (OE)? > > Windows 7 Mail (etc.) forumhttp://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/w7network/threads > > > > n9...(a)yahoo.com wrote: > > I have a 91-year old senior citizen friend, whose kids just bought him > > a new computer with Windows 7 - and no e-mail program. From: Corday on 7 Feb 2010 14:24 Go to his house and export his address book (LDIF format) to a floppy and import on new computer. If no floppy drive, then use any portable medium. -- I mastered Wordstar graphics! N9, > He lives 30 mlies from me, and doesn't know which program he has on his old computer. I'm trying to get somebody over that way to fire up the old computer, get the program and version name. While s/he's there, also setup the free version of LogMeIn on the new computer. That way, the next time you need to help, you can do it remotely. HTH. Jeff |
