From: Marc Verkade [Marti IT] on 15 Nov 2009 15:42 Hey, Why is it important to know how many there were? You and I know that only a fraction of the users using a dev-language attends conferences. The quality matters and also the 'feeling' how people are experiencing the conference and the presented sessions. I do not know the amount exactly but more than 70 and less than 110 I would say. It was quite crowded at the coffee site! There were many old faces around, but the nice thing me and Terje noticed that we were far from the youngest people now as we were at DevFest some years ago! There were almost no VO-sessions going on since everybody knows VO and have plenty of stuff for that. Almost all were about Vulcan or generic paradigms. Even MS officials showing VS2010 and Powershell were there. Conferences are about new things and there were many new things to see at VODC and as said seeing Bake-it run in Vulcan in Robert's 'How to convert a really big VO program to Vulcan' session was a milestone for me. The energy boost you get from these conferences always amazes me. I went by train so was able to suck up much info on the way home. Back to work again and freeing my agenda to gain dev-time... -- Grtz, Marc "E!k \/!sser" <nospam(a)nospam.com> schreef in bericht news:7m9p1fF3funemU1(a)mid.individual.net... > Hi Marc, > > Two times what? > > Erik > > > "Marc Verkade [Marti IT]" <marcatM(a)rtidotnl> schreef in bericht > news:4afee893$0$798$58c7af7e(a)news.kabelfoon.nl... >> more than 2 times of last year >> >> -- >> Grtz, Marc >> >> >> "E!k \/!sser" <nospam(a)nospam.com> schreef in bericht >> news:7m81fkF3gr8hsU1(a)mid.individual.net... >>> Hi Willie, >>> How many attendees did you count ? >>> >>> Erik >>> >>> >>> "Willie Moore" <williem(a)wmconsulting.com> schreef in bericht >>> news:hdjb2v$ja1$1(a)aioe.org... >>> Hey, >>> >>> I am at VODC 2009 in Stuttgart. From: Ginny Caughey on 16 Nov 2009 07:58 Erik, Geoff and all, I didn't attend VODC last year due to a health issue so I can't speak for last year's conference, but this year seemed about the same to me as other VODC conferences. As well as German attendees, there were attendees from Holland, Belgium, the UK, France, Rumania, Italy, etc., so there were a higher percentage of English language presentations than in the past. As for VO sessions, in fact I did two sessions that showed VO code. One showed how to extend a big production VO app using C# code (or it could be any .NET language), and the other showed Transported versions of my VO serial and crypto code from past conferences as well as using the modern ..NET classes to accomplish the same thing (which btw could be called from a VO app using the techniques discussed in the other session.) Although not surprisingly most of the new topics focused on Vulcan (and I agree that Robert's session on Transporting a big app was particularly interesting), most of the attendees still have VO apps in production and are still interested in learning new things to do with them. Willie's session on Reporting Services was very useful for me, and the Microsoft presentation on Power Shell opened my eyes to a whole technology I'd ignored as did Fabrice's session on WMI. Brian announced that Grafx will be adding another member to the dev team next year, and Dieter announced that next year's VODC will also be held the 2nd week in November, probably in Stuttgart or Munich, so clearly everybody was happy with this year's conference and with the future. -- Ginny Caughey www.wasteworks.com "E!k \/!sser" <nospam(a)nospam.com> wrote in message news:7mcta8F3ggi3fU1(a)mid.individual.net... > Hi Marc, > >> Why is it important to know how many there were?
