From: Max Arwood on 7 Jan 2010 01:46 I'm looking for a faster AGP video card. I am starting to do a lot of video work and the dropped frames is driving me nuts. I have an NVIDIA GeFroce FX 5200 I am looking at -> http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102730&cm_re=agp_video_card-_-14-102-730-_-Product http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102851&cm_re=agp_video_card_1gb-_-14-102-851-_-Product http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150433 (Don't want it too noisy{fan noise}, under $200) Any other ideas? Thanks, Max Arwood
From: Steve_Karl on 7 Jan 2010 06:23 Sapphire used to make some poor knockoffs ... this is way back .... when 32mb was big. and the reason I thought they were poor is that the color wasn't right. This is all just my OPINION. ============== ********************* So if I had to pick one of the 3 I'd get the XFX even though I've never heard of them, and also mainly because it has the most ram. ********************* ============== BUT ........ tell me more about the dropped frames. Is that when you're doing a capture? I can capture with either of my 8500dv cards or my 9600 pro and have never have any frame dropping problems. From: Max Arwood on 7 Jan 2010 11:33 Thanks Steve. If Sapphire is a knockoff, what would be "The Brand" that they knocked off? I only noticed that the clock speed was slower on the XFX than the others. I do like the 1 gig memory. "Chipset by ati" is different than "Built by ati" So Saphire uses an ati chipset but Saphire builds everything else. "Built by ATI" means ati built everything on the card. That's why I call Saphire them knock offs.
