From: johnp03 on 18 May 2010 07:27 Hi I have created a movie in WMM including video, photographs and title overlays. The vide plays great while in the preview screen in WMM, however when I save to my computer and then try to playback using Windows media player or Realtime I get problems. The video sections consist of a thin line at the top of the screen, and yet the overlays are clear as are the photos and sound is also fine. any suggestions? Thanks

To save as an .avi movie file...(Windows XP) (and several other options) Type...Ctrl+P to open the Save Movie Wizard / Choose...My Computer / Next / Enter a Name and a Save Location / Next / Show More Choices / Other Settings / Open the drop window and choose...DV-AVI / Next / Wait while the movie is saved / Finish... And...there may be a compatibility issue with the video files. Many formats are reportedly compatible with Movie Maker but the most reliable choices are: Photos - bmp Video - wmv or dv-avi Music - wma, wav, wmv -- Volunteer J - MS-MVP Digital Media Experience Notice This is not tech support I am a volunteer Solutions that work for me may not work for you Proceed at your own risk
From: John P John on 18 May 2010 11:33 Thanks for this John. It looks like the problem was compatibility of file type with WMM. I have a little kodak HD camera (ZX1), which outputs in .MOV format. I used a downloadable free file converter (Any DVD converter) to get it into DV-AVI (which looked like it worked but WMM output an AVI which had the playback problems). I switched my converter to output WMV so I could input this file format with WMM. This appears to give a functioning movie now (although the quality isn't as good as I expected). I guess I will play around with bitrate etc to see if I can get it any better. Thanks again for your help. (this is where you will find your files after they are converted) Drag/drop your .mov video clips onto the main screen... Select 'All to WMV' / OK... Click...Start...on the toolbar... That should do it... -- Volunteer J - MS-MVP Digital Media Experience Notice This is not tech support I am a volunteer Solutions that work for me may not work for you Proceed at your own risk
