From: CCable on 13 Sep 2006 16:02 I get that message everytime i try to open VPC on an end user's computer. System Info: Dell Optiplex GX620 Windows XP SP2 Broadcom NetXtreme 57xx Gigabit Controller Steps i have taken to try to fix the problem: Uninstalled / Reinstalled VPC 2004 Verified the "Virtual Machine Network Services" Driver box is checked in my NIC properties. Verified that the user account is not under the "Network Configuration Operators" group. Manually uninstalled and reinstalled the "Virtual Machine Network Services" service under my network card. Updated the Chipset and NIC drivers. One thing i noticed thats strange, on my pc when i click properties on the "Virtual Machine Network Services" it has the following information. Driver Provider : Microsoft Driver Date: 6/4/2004 Driver Version 2.5.452.0 When i check the properties on the end user's pc, all of that information is blank. I have the same model PC as the end user with the same version of windows. VPC runs fine on my machine. Any help would be appreciated, this is really frustrating.
From: CCable on 13 Sep 2006 16:06 Here is the full error message im getting when opening VPC. "Virtual PC could not open the Virtual Machine Network Services driver. Access to the external network and host will be unavailable to all virtual machines using virtual networking. Virtual machines using virtual networking will still be able to access other virtual machines using virtual networking. To fix this problem, re-enable the Virtual Machine Network Services driver on one or more ethernet adapters or reinstall Virtual PC."
