From: Robert Thompson on 15 Feb 2010 11:42 I have a MacBook Pro 10.5.8 I have set up My Airport express and it works fine on my Macs. But my wife has a Dell running Vista (needs it for work) When she tries to connect her computer sees the Airport express name of network but.. It says "The settings saved on this computer for the network do not match the requirements of the network." Well I'm at a loss here as what to do. Can someone please help me. I have no idea as what to do. Do I need to have her load the airport utility app? If so then what? Thanks in advance --- news://freenews.netfront.net/ - complaints: news(a)netfront.net ---

Based on the error message and educated guesswork, it sounds like the Vista computer has saved details about connecting to your wireless network but they are wrong in some way, such as the encryption method or password. You need to find some way to make Vista forget its previously saved settings for your wireless network so it can start fresh. The saved settings might be based on the name of your wireless network (probably referred to as an SSID on Vista), or the specific network created by your Airport Express (identifying it from the Airport Express's unique hardware address, commonly known as a MAC address - nothing to do with Macintosh, by the way). > Do I need to have her load the airport utility app? No. That would only be needed if you wanted to be able to reconfigure the Airport Express using that computer. It has no impact on being able to connect to the wireless network. -- David Empson dempson(a)actrix.gen.nz
