From: Bennyvision on 14 Dec 2009 15:22 Hey folks, I am running into a problem where several of our Windows 2003 servers are no longer creating shadow copies on their shares. The Volume Shadow Copy service kicks off periodically like it should, but there are no new copies being created (there is plenty of disk space available). However, I'm not necessarily looking for a fix on that front - it would be nice to fix it, but I have a higher-level goal in mind - I need to *test* to make sure these copies are being created on all of our file servers. (I'm not actually a Windows file server admin, I'm the guy in charge of network monitoring) Is there a performance counter or anything of that nature I can check to see when the last shadow copy was created? Something like that? There are no errors logged to event log, so I cannot check that for failures. I really need to be able to test for copies being created (via Nagios if anyone is already doing it). Any help/insight/clue-by-fours would be greatly appreciated!
