Hi all!
I just bought new WD passport elite HDD and need to use it on several
PCs.
One of them has Win 98 SE and cannot recognize my WD.
Does anybody know if there any chance to solve this?

Thanks in advance!

Yes, get an OS that is less of a toy. Altrnatively put smaller
FAT32 partitions on it. Win98 has a partition size limit of
137GB and, I think, a drive size limit of 500GB. You should
still be able to use partitions below 137GB that are completely
in the first 500GB of the drive.

The 28-bit LBA limit only applies to internal drives that use the
standard ESDI_506.pdr driver. There are hacks and other workarounds,
including a 48-bit LBA capable driver for certain Intel chipsets.

External drives are accessed via a mass storage driver that does not
suffer from the 28-bit LBA limit. I have accessed a 320GB drive in a
USB enclosure using the following drivers:

Be aware that an old Win98SE box may be limited to USB 1.1 ports, in
which case data transfers will proceed at around 1 MB/s instead of the
usual 20 MB/s for USb 2.0.
