Hi David,

It seems more similar cases found recently regarding WSS 3.0 compayweb stops working after installing update(KB983444). There have been a couple of cases where reinstalling the update, then
applying the psconfig again( psconfig -cmd upgrade -inplace b2b -wait -force) command fixed it.
