Hi!

I'm using the following commands to get the simbolic expressions of A1, A1I, A2 and A2I:

a=1
eq1='(A1+A1I*i)-(A1-A1I*i)+(A2+A2I*i)-(A2-A2I*i)-Ty(a)/(2*Pi()*i)';

eq2='Srot(1)*(A1+A1I*i)-conj(Srot(1))*(A1-A1I*i)+Srot(2)*(A2+A2I*i)-conj(Srot(2))*(A2-A2I*i)+Tx(a)/(2*Pi()*i)';

eq3='(Srot(1)^2)*(A1+A1I*i)-(conj(Srot(1))^2)*(A1-A1I*i)+(Srot(2)^2)*(A2+A2I*i)-(conj(Srot(2))^2)*(A2-A2I*i)+(InvA(1,2)*Ty(a))/(2*Pi()*i*InvA(1,1))+(InvA(1,3)*Tx(a))/(2*Pi()*i*InvA(1,1))';

eq4='(A1+A1I*i)/Srot(1)-(A1-A1I*i)/conj(Srot(1))+(A2+A2I*i)/Srot(2)-(A2-A2I*i)/conj(Srot(2))-(InvA(1,2)*Tx(a))/(2*Pi()*i*InvA(2,2))-(InvA(2,3)*Ty(a))/(2*Pi()*i*InvA(2,2))';
EQA= solve(eq1,eq2,eq3,eq4);

I get the following error:
Warning: Warning, solutions may have been lost
Warning: Explicit solution could not be found.

Tx and Ty are arrays that were already calculated and have the size size Tx(17) and Ty(17). If I put in the above equations for example Tx(1) and Ty(1) instead of Tx(a) and Ty(a) I get the solution I want. Since I want to loop variable a I'm stuck! Any thoughts on how can I solve this problem?

Thank you for your time and attention!

When you pass a string as a parameter to solve() rather than using a symbolic
expression, then the string is interpreted at the level of the symbolic engine
rather than as a symbolic expression intended to references variables in the
current workspace. In particular, the symbolic engine uses [] for subscripts
rather than (), and considers () as indicating a function call. Thus, solve()
would consider your eq2 as starting with a call to the unknown function Srot,
with the parameter 1, rather than as indicating that you want to reference the
Srot vector at location 1.

Also note that at the symbolic engine level, the constant Pi is known as Pi
and not as Pi(), and that the imaginary constant is I rather than i .

Version of eq1 altered according to symbolic engine syntax:

eq1='(A1+A1I*I)-(A1-A1I*I)+(A2+A2I*I)-(A2-A2I*I)-Ty[a]/(2*Pi*I)';

And to confirm, your references to (say) InvA(1,2) would be replaced with
InvA[1,2]

I haven't found that info in the solve help file! Thank you so much for the valuable tips. Despite my lack of experience, let me know if i can be of any help!

Gifts for the golf beginner
There is nothing that the beginning golfer can benefit from more. The single best choice out of all wholesale golf clubs gifts for the golf beginner is golf lessons(ishiner). Even the best of golfers could use a tip or two at times to improve their game. Tiger Woods did not learn golf overnight. Tiger, probably the best golfer in the world, still takes lessons.
