I use Notepad exclusively as stated by Craig before. The only time I'd
start up an editor is if I had to modify a menu of 15 items on several
pages within a web page - you can do it all with Notepad,

Don't listen to the notepad brigade. Gawd.

Personally, I hand code but use an editor with highlighting.

There are loads. I use payware, but here's some free ones.

When I can't figure out what the hell is going wrong I use a visual editor.

Not to code, just to get a handle on what's going wrong

KompoZer is quite good enough for that.

Do yourself a favour and learn to use a versioning system like cvs or svn.

Personally I use cvs on a remote Linux system

The NT port used to work well and was easy to set up.

Seems to have changed since I last used it. Now here.

For a cvs client I use TortoiseCVS.
