I wanted one to communicate via iChat with family in the service overseas. I settled on a Logitech. As I recall, the model is Logitech Pro. This model is typically $115 to $125. There are several other models much less expensive. The advantage is that the model I chose is "plug it in and it works with a Mac". No drivers, no configuration, no nothing. I consider it worth the cost. jim

However regardless of whether support is offically stated, any UVC <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USB_video_device_class> based USB cam will Just Workâ˘. It might not have all the software enabled features on the box, but as a straight webcam they will work fine. FYI: make sure you get a webcam with auto-focus. It's not much more expensive nowadays and very handy to have. -- If you're not part of the solution, you're part of the precipitate.
