Well not me, but my wife... She has a work-imposed budget of 40 for a
new mobile phone - there are a few restirctions though:

3G/Data is not a requirement
Bluetooth is.
A camera would be nice, but not essential.
(and probably not going to get one at that price!)

She has an Orange SIM supplied by her work and this is what she must
use. (No porting).

So I'm guessing it's going to need a PAYG phone on Orange then throw
the supplied SIM away - unless the other PAYG networks don't lock their
phones...

Her own phone is a N95 and she likes Nokia, but there doesn't seem
much to choose from in that price range...

So.. Any suggestions as to both the phone and somewhere to get
it from?

Thanks,

Gordon

Skype S2 on 3 from Argos 40
Take it to an unlocker, less than a tenner to have it unlocked,
then you can put any sim in it.

Argos cat no 518/2662
http://www.argos.co.uk/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Search?storeId=10001&catalogId=1500002201&langId=-1&searchTerms=5182662

Bluetooth, MP3, 3megpix camera, quad band, 3g, data, etc, etc.

Find out if her Orange contract includes any data,
if so change the connection settings to Oranges.

Also good idea to buy a 2 to 4 Gb microSD card for it
to store lots of pics and video, etc. (5 to 10quid)

The only redeaming feture of the S2 is the free Skype calls, and the're only
avalible with a 3 SIM

Apologies, pressed send too early.
The only redeeming feature of the S2 IMHO is the free Skype calls, and they're only
available with a 3 SIM, I have recommended this phone on that basis often.

On another network it's a mediocre phone with an awful keypad.

Utter rubbish, the S2 is by far the best all purpose phone for it's
subsidised price
it even comes with stereo USB earplugs.

The keypad has excellent hardwearing easy to use metal keys,
i can send text faster on my S2 than my Nokia 6120c.

Are you sure you're not thinking of the S1, that did have an awful keypad

The negative points of the S2 IMO are is it's a little heavy with it's
stainless steel
back plate, and the sound quality from it's internal earpiece is only fair

Try a dummy one in a Three shop, some Three shops have real phones
connected to use
