If you have "problems" it could be because your seal over the hole is not perfect and air is slowly getting through and destroying this vacuum. If you only make infrequent use of your printer, then this "air leak" may be able to restore ink flow sometimes but not if you suddenly do a number of printing runs in quick succession.
