Greetings. Thank you for the suggestion. I discovered a few minutes ago
that I required MDAC 2.8 Service Pack One. This is a different
installation package than MDAC 2.8

5,556,616 09-03-06 8:33p MDAC_TYP.EXE
6,100,504 09-04-06 8:48p MDAC_TYP2.EXE

Service Pack One is 400k larger, and it successfully installed the MDAC
upgrade without the three errors I had been getting. AND IT IS NOW
WORKING! That's the first time in two years it has been working. Life
without Googlewould really suck.
