You have a good point IMO, definitely should consider that possibility. There is also the possibility of getting very valuable stuff for almost free. You pay your price and you take your chance. And eBay can be a good way to get rid of stuff you simply do not need any more. I received a surprisingly good price for a mainboard with memory and CPU that I could not have given away locally. I try to shop elsewhere, partly because many times the price on eBay is more than what I would pay at a good online store, in addition to the risk. But eBay can be especially useful for hard-to-find items. The expression "your experience may vary" probably fits very well.
