From: InOverMyHead on 8 Jan 2010 01:58 I used the Gateway 'restore' disk to put a new OS (WinXP Home) back on my computer. It puts all your old files into a 'backup' folder so all the old stuff is still available - but how do I find my old address book. I have searched for *.wab and don't see any results. I presume it was in the user/local settings/application data/identities/xxxxxxx/microsoft/outlook express However, everything in this location is years old, and contains nothing that looks like an address book. I know I should have exported a copy - but I didn't. So where is it hiding - anyone know? Bob
From: Steve Cochran on 8 Jan 2010 08:18 You can try searching for *~* and if you find anything rename it to give it a wab file extension and then click on it and see if it will open. steve "InOverMyHead" <bbart(a)netcom.com> wrote in message news:O6kaSADkKHA.3476(a)TK2MSFTNGP06.phx.gbl... >I used the Gateway 'restore' disk to put a new OS (WinXP Home) back on my >computer. The location was probably the same under your old OS instance as it is under your new OS instance. You'll notice that "identities" is NOT in the path to the .wab folder.
From: InOverMyHead on 8 Jan 2010 18:53 Wow - worked great. Thanks!! Don't know why I couldn't find it with a search/find action?!? But I've got it now.
