From: Eric on 27 Apr 2010 23:40 I find Microsoft Network Monitor 3.3 for download on following link, but when I install it, my Norton detects virus when I execute the download file. Does anyone have any suggestions on where the safe place to download? Thanks in advance for any suggestions Eric http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=983b941d-06cb-4658-b7f6-3088333d062f&displaylang=en#filelist

File size: 5193032 bytes MD5 : 4fda65a8b645133dd027fdaf9da53bac SHA1 : 0bfbb13414aa11a751c61e6a2db55e2e242bd0cc SHA256: 3b911fcd76ba09d4eb40d842f568930dca6383ca98d7a8cf4c7ce8dd7dc8b31f http://download.microsoft.com/download/7/1/0/7105C7FF-768E-4472-AFD5-F29108D1E383/NM33_x86.exe Make sure you downloaded the correct file for your OS, as I see three options for things to download. I have WinXP 32 bit, which is why I would download the x86 version. ******* If you need a tool to compute a checksum, try FCIV from Microsoft. It is supposed to support MD5 and SHA1. I ran FCIV on the file I downloaded, and it agrees with the checksums shown on Virustotal. Instead of uploading entire files to Virustotal, it is also possible to search their site, using only the checksum value as a key, and get a virus report that way. That saves time, if you're limited to dialup networking. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/841290 HTH, Paul

The fix is to get rid* of Norton and replace it with a free alternative. ---- * If you CAN get rid of it. Norton is the barnacle of the software world.
