Hi,
Good evening, everyone.
I am using Matlab/Simulink R2009a.

I am trying to use simulink to simulate the PMSM to act as a generator and connected to the resistors.

The figures of the connection and the results are shown as this link below:

http://picasaweb.google.com/tl38tiang/DropBox?authkey=Gv1sRgCOKq_cjYubWRKg&feat=directlink

1) First, the PMSM act as a generator with input electromagnetic torque, Tm = -5.

2) If PMSM connected to 3 phase resistor directly (R = 5 ohm), the line voltages and line currents are in the sinusoidal waveforms.

3) But, if PMSM connected to rectifier and single phase resistor (R = 5 ohm), the line voltages and line currents are not in sinusoidal waveforms.

4) Theoretically, the line voltages and line currents in both case should be in sinusoidal waveforms, right?

5) If yes, how should I solve this problems?

Please help, i have suffer this problem for 3 months already.
Thank you very much.

Hello,

No, they should not. If you use a rectifier you have to take the characteristics of the diodes into account. They only conduct if the voltage over the diodes are positive (leaving aside some other effects), i.e. line-to-line input voltages (PMSG outputs) are higher than the actual voltage over the resistor.

Hi Frank,
Good day.
Thank you very much for helping me. Then, do you think my simulation result is correct or not?
Thank you.

Best regards,
