Every time I turn on my computer, Word opens itself before I've clicked
anything. This never used to happen - it's only recent. Why is it doing this?
Can I stop this from happening?

The most likely explanation is that you accidentally copied a shortcut
to Word into your Startup folder on the Start > Programs menu. But
there are several other ways a program can be made to start at boot
time.

One way to find out what's happening is to click Start > Run, enter
the command

msconfig

and press Enter. In the dialog that appears, click the Startup tab.
This contains a list of all the programs that start with Windows. Find
Word (or it may be called WinWord.exe) in the list. Its entry in the
Location column will tell you what's responsible for its startup.

You can disable the starting of Word by unchecking the box next to it
(this will probably require a reboot to take effect), but a better
solution is to go to the place indicated in the Location column and
permanantly remove it.

It would appear that a shortcut to Word is in the Windows Startup folder.
