From: ACC on 15 Apr 2010 09:32 Can anyone tell me if Microsoft Office XP is compatible with Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit? I need to know if the cost of my new laptop will be inflated by having to get new software as well.
From: Charlie Russel - MVP on 15 Apr 2010 10:58 Most things in Office XP should work fine. I think there are a couple of things that might be a problem, like a "print to fax" or similar option. (Printer drivers have to be 64-bit, so any old built in printer drivers that were specific to Office won't work. But I don't remember which, if any, Office XP had.) That being said, Office XP isn't supported any more, and I don't think you'll be getting security updates for it. Plus I don't believe there's a compatibility pack for it to handle the Office 2007/2010 file formats, so you could run into some issues there if someone sends you a .docx file, say. But they can easily change the output format to use the older file formats, so that's not a big deal. -- Charlie. http://msmvps.com/blogs/russel "ACC" <nospam(a)noisp.com> wrote in message news:O12PuAK3KHA.4016(a)TK2MSFTNGP05.phx.gbl... > Can anyone tell me if Microsoft Office XP is compatible with Windows 7 > Home Premium 64bit? > > I need to know if the cost of my new laptop will be inflated by having to > get new software as well. >

Office 2003 should work and you may find it less expensive than Office 2007. -- XS11E, Killing all posts from Google Groups The Usenet Improvement Project: http://twovoyagers.com/improve-usenet.org/
