Windoze historically saw C:\ as "special", and the access rights to
it, as to e.g. \program files were more and more restricted - so, when
i have a problem with an app the first try is to move it to a
unsuspectful location...

Karl is right. You may store the executable on the C drive, even in
"Program Files", but you may not write *anything* in that directory
routinely. Windows wants you to put temporary files and data in the
Users area. (was Documents and Settings\User Name, now Users\User
Name)

And then if the customer has a 64-bit OS, your program will end up in
"Program Files (x86)"

As long as Windoze is not installed on D:...

And you may or may not get away with simply mapping a drive letter to
your directory "c:\ww_win\".

Karl,

I don't have my w7ult64 in hand now, but curious tried on VistaB64
creating a new dir under C, ie c:\agenda, and copying all files in
c:\agenda, all seems working correctly.
I don't see any problem running my app "agenda" in that dir, nor accessing
the c:\agenda path.
Is there something different in w7 ?
I'm working with VO28, debug left ON.

Massimo
