This was the best place that I could find to post this, since there isn't a
Windows CE group.

We have several Intermec CK31 handheld computers running Windows CE,
(version 4.2). On these handhelds, we use Remote Desktop Connection to
connect to a server and then run a program there. The RDC version is
5.1.2600.1083. The issue with RDC version 5.1 is that there is no option to
save a password, (something that we desire to do).

Does anyone know if RDC version 5.2 (which allows users to save a password)
is available for Windows CE, and if so, where can I get it? In the Windows
XP world, RDC 5.2 comes with SP2. I found a knowledge base article that
discusses a hotfix that apparently allows version 5.1 to remember passwords,
but I cannot get it work with the handheld since I cannot get into the
registry editor.

Does anyone have any additional ideas on what I can do?

Thanks.

Microsoft.public.pocketpc.* would do....

Sorry, no - try the group(s) above.
That said, I'd think it foolhardy to cache the password, particularly on a
handheld device that a) might be lost/stolen and b) doesn't support Remote
Wipe. You're connecting to a server....what happens if the device gets out
of authorized hands? <shudder>.

If the handheld does not connect to our wireless access point, the user will
be unable to connect to the server in question. Additionaly, upon RDC login,
our inventory program is immediately started, which prevetns access to
anything else on that server. The user must log into the inventory program
before they can even use that as well, so their only options are to login or
quit the remote session. That means we currently have two logins to get
access to what the users need.

I will post on the other group.
