From: HellslayeR on 20 Aug 2008 04:25 Hello. I'm experiencing a problem with windows 2008 terminal server and my windows 2008 licens server. The problem is quite simple: The license server dosent give licenses to my 2008 terminal servers but it will however give out licenses to windows 2003 servers. This leads me to belive that there's some setting I've overlooked at my license server or my 2008 terminal servers. My TS can discover the license server and bring up information about how many cals and so forth so they can see and bring up information from the licens server. Using group policy I've specified the license server to be used. On the license server itself I've added the servers that needs license in the "Terminal Server computers" group. Still my Windows 2008 TS is not getting their license and since the grace period has run out nobody can connect to them anymore so it's a big problem. Any ideas?

From: HellslayeR on 20 Aug 2008 07:56 Yes 2008 TS CAL's are installed. We're going to use "per device" cal's and I have set that option on the terminal servers aswell. From: Jeff Pitsch on 20 Aug 2008 08:33 Ok, it had to be asked :) Is your license server on the TS box itself or another box? have you tried specifying the location directly in TS Config to the license server? Any error messags? Have you added the server to the TS license group (forget exact name) on the license server? -- Jeff Pitsch Microsoft MVP - Terminal Services "HellslayeR" <HellslayeR(a)discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:4C36381A-967F-411B-8261-DE105BB5FCAF(a)microsoft.com... > Yes 2008 TS CAL's are installed. > > We're going to use "per device" cal's and I have set that option on the > terminal servers aswell. > > "Jeff Pitsch" wrote: > >> Did you install Windows 2008 TS CAL's? >> >> -- >> Jeff Pitsch >> Microsoft MVP - Terminal Services >> >> "HellslayeR" <HellslayeR(a)discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message >> news:8A4C9C7A-7F68-4861-9BBA-A2DD813263B0(a)microsoft.com... >> > Hello. >> > >> > I'm experiencing a problem with windows 2008 terminal server and my >> > windows >> > 2008 licens server. >> > >> > The problem is quite simple: The license server dosent give licenses to >> > my >> > 2008 terminal servers but it will however give out licenses to windows >> > 2003 >> > servers. >> > >> > This leads me to belive that there's some setting I've overlooked at my >> > license server or my 2008 terminal servers. >> > My TS can discover the license server and bring up information about >> > how >> > many cals and so forth so they can see and bring up information from >> > the >> > licens server. >> > >> > Using group policy I've specified the license server to be used. >> > >> > On the license server itself I've added the servers that needs license >> > in >> > the "Terminal Server computers" group. >> > >> > Still my Windows 2008 TS is not getting their license and since the >> > grace >> > period has run out nobody can connect to them anymore so it's a big >> > problem. >> > >> > Any ideas? >> >> >>
From: HellslayeR on 20 Aug 2008 08:54 Hehe, just ask away ;) I think I coverd some of your questions in my inital post: 1. On the license server itself I've added the servers that needs license in the "Terminal Server computers" group. 2. Using group policy I've specified the license server to be used. Now to the rest: I have 3 Windows 2008 Terminal servers and one aditional server where I have installed Windows 2008 server and added the license server role. Using the diagnostic tool under TSC all 3 terminal servers can see the license server, but still no license is beeing issued. I hope this helps some :) "Jeff Pitsch" wrote: > Ok, it had to be asked :) > > Is your license server on the TS box itself or another box? have you tried > specifying the location directly in TS Config to the license server?
