From: leoliver on 3 Apr 2010 09:42 What Windows services are required to be turned on , in order for the Windows back-up utility to start up ? I have been to the Black Viper web-site and used the suggestions there to disable some services. And I'm wondering if that is the reason I can't get the Windows back up utility to fully start up. -- your friend, Larry
From: Anteaus on 4 Apr 2010 03:16 The main dependency is Removeable Storage, though Shadow Copy may also be needed. Your problem may be that the removeable storage database is corrupted, in which case you need to clear the media pool. This is a very common problem. I would suggest looking at a more reliable backup solution unless you are going to monitor the thing like a hawk. Cobian is good for disk backup, but doesn't do tape. From: leoliver on 6 Apr 2010 14:08 The Removable Storage is probably the problem as you suggested. I say so because every time I start the Removable Storage service, it turns itself off within a second. It will not stay running. I use Acronis back up software , but I was concerned that something was wrong with my computer , and the failure of the Windows backup service was a symptom of the problem. You suggested I need to clear up the " removable storage database " , because of possible corruption. May I ask what is the best way to clear the removable storage database? Thanks. -- your friend, Larry "Anteaus" wrote: > The main dependency is Removable Storage, though Shadow Copy may also be > needed. > > Your problem may be that the removable storage database is corrupted, in > which case you need to clear the media pool.
