From: Neil on 2 Oct 2009 05:58 I have just started using Word 2007 and have set the default file save format to doc several times but every time I re-open Word it has set itself back to docx. How do I stop this?
From: Herb Tyson [MVP] on 2 Oct 2009 10:39 I presume you're making the settings change in Word Options - Save tab? If settings aren't being saved, this usually indicates a corrupted registry entry. I would try renaming or deleting the Options key, which is located here in the registry: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Word\Options It might be enough to manually change the setting for DefaultFormat (Doc), but if the registry key is corrupted, then you might need to rename or delete the whole Options key. Word will automatically recreate it the next time Word is started. -- Herb Tyson MS MVP Author of the Word 2007 Bible Blog: http://word2007bible.herbtyson.com Web: http://www.herbtyson.com "Neil" <Neil(a)discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:8ABF28A4-2DEC-4D35-818C-13D1A74AFCD4(a)microsoft.com... > I have just started using Word 2007 and have set the default file save > format > to doc several times but every time I re-open Word it has set itself back > to > docx.
