From: Martin Baker on 24 Apr 2010 11:39 I had this problem years ago, but do not remember what the answer was, or if there even was an answer. I fear I am missing something obvious - if so, please indulge the question that follows and I beg your forgiveness in advance: I am trying to apply X-Axis Labels to a simple bar chart (5 points). I wish the five lables to be applied either above or one their respective bars. When I enter the data range (e.g.: =Statistics!$B$6:$B$11) to the field "Category (x) Axis Labels:" only the first (in the example, $B$6) is applied - to all five bar-points. If I attempt to enter a manual range (e.g. "one", "two", "three", etc.) in the field, again, only the first label is applied to all five bar-points. I have tried pretty much ever variation of chart option and label option I could think of, to no avail. Thank you in advance for any help the Community might offer. -- Martin Baker Data Protection Specialist
From: Jon Peltier on 25 Apr 2010 10:18 Excel is apparently applying the series name to the data points. Excel 2003 & earlier: double click the series to open the Format Series dialog, click on Data labels tab, choose Categories option. Excel 2007 & later: select series, go to Chart Tools > Layout tab, click down arrow on Data Labels button, choose More Data Label Options, and on Label Options, choose Category Name. - Jon ------- Jon Peltier Peltier Technical Services, Inc. http://peltiertech.com/ On 4/24/2010 11:39 AM, Martin Baker wrote: > I had this problem years ago, but do not remember what the answer was, or if > there even was an answer.
