I am having an issue in that roaming / mandatory profiles will not load if
the user changes their password at the logon prompt after an XP Pro client is
upgraded to Service Pack 3. This is a known issue and Microsoft have provided
a patch unfortunately this patch doesn't work.

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/958058

I install it and it shows in the add/remove window but the lsasrv.dll file
hasn't changed and the flaw still exists. I've uninstalled and reapplied but
it still fails to work. I have tried this on a fresh install of XP SP3 with
no AV or other software, both our standard network build and an OEM build.
The patch replaces the lsasrv.dll version 5.1.2600.5834 with 5.1.2600.5827
(I know it appears to be an old version).
I have even replaced the file manually and it still does not work, the only
way around this problem so far is to copy lsasrv.dll from an SP2 client to an
SP3 client (not ideal on 500 clients).

I have downloaded the hotfix twice but to no avail , can anyone suggest a
way to solve this issue or a way to alert Microsoft to this issue.

Thank you

Grant.

WinXP SP3 entered Extended Support phase in April 2009.

For enterprise customers with an applicable contract with Microsoft, support
remains available through your usual support contacts.

We don't have an enterprise support contract. The patch is generally
available but doesn't work I'd like to bring this to Microsoft's attention so
they can fix it. I don't think I should have to pay to inform them of a
faulty patch can you suggest a way that I can alert them to this issue.

Thank you.

After a Windows version enters Extended Support phase, such bugs are not

The issue was addresed pre April 2009 with a patch but the patch doesn't
work, surely they should look into that right?
