From: Charles Lavin on 18 Jan 2010 14:57 Hi -- I have an email account behind my company's Exchange server -- say, chuck(a)mydomain.com. I have an email address on a client's Exchange server -- chuck(a)clientdomain.com. The client's Exchange server automatically forwards all incoming email for chuck(a)clientdomain.com to chuck(a)mydomain.com. When I reply to one of these forwarded emails from my Outlook connected to my server, I need to make sure that the From: address still reads chuck(a)clientdomain.com. So I enter chuck(a)clientdomain.com in the From: line of the email I'm composing in Outlook. When I send the email, it bounces back undeliverable because Exchange claims that I do not have permission to send to this recipient. I added the email address chuck(a)clientdomain.com to my Adcive Directory profile on my company's server, but that didn't help. Right now, the only way to send out emails from here with the proper From: line is to completely bypass the Exchange server. How can I send these emails out correctly through Exchange? I have a lot of flexibility to change anything on either DC or Exchange server. Thanks, CL

Send "TO" or send "AS"? >I added the email address chuck(a)clientdomain.com to my Adcive Directory >profile on my company's server, but that didn't help. Not unless you give you account the "Send As" permission on the chuck(a)clientdomain.com AD object. --- Rich Matheisen MCSE+I, Exchange MVP
From: Charles Lavin on 18 Jan 2010 20:15 The error says that I do not have permission to send TO this recipient: "You do not have permission to send to this recipient. For assistance, contact your system administrator." What chuck(a)clientdomain.com AD object? There's a chuck AD object with that email address on the client's server. On my server, all I have is that email address added to my local chuck AD object. And the email is going out of my local Exchange server, not the client's. These two servers don't currently communicate with each other, except when the client's server forwards my incoming mail -- which it does by sending the mail out the same way it sends out all outgoing email. Am I missing an object somewhere? Sorry, you said "I added the email address chuck(a)clientdomain.com to my Adcive Directory profile on my company's server, but that didn't help.". I thought you meant that you added a mail-enabled contact to the AD. >There's a chuck AD object with that >email address on the client's server. Am I missing an object somewhere? Try adding a mail-enabled Contact to your AD and give your account the "Send As" permission on that Contact. --- Rich Matheisen MCSE+I, Exchange MVP
