The TCP ACK goes with the other TCP header flags such as SYN, RST, and PSH. Ok yes I have confused the two. If ASCII ack is obsolete then I guess there's no need to read any more about it. I have the Stevens book now and it says vol 1. Meaning that there must be subsequent volumes. Bill
