I know of. They're generally considered obsolete, and they certainly
have nothing to do with TCP ACKs. The TCP ACK goes with the other TCP
header flags such as SYN, RST, and PSH.

Ok yes I have confused the two. If ASCII ack is obsolete then I guess
there's no need to read any more about it. I have the Stevens book now and
it says vol 1. Meaning that there must be subsequent volumes.
