It's very sweet. I have it hooked up to my 52' lcd. At parties and family get togethers I fire it up. It has one module in which all your photo fly about the screen at the same time while one takes 'centre stage' for a few seconds at a time. Never fails to grab people's attention. The desktops are nice too. However, I have read that it likes to phone home. I didn't test for this and I don't recall any options in this regard. Also, I have read that the desktop widgets consume a lot of memory for what they do. HTH, M

I wonder if you used your Firewall to stop it from phoning home, if it would continue to work? I haven't tried this myself and don't much care either way. Might be worth trying though... M

Might be > worth trying though... Right at the bottom of the page: "Copyright 2010 - All rights reserved to IncrediMail Ltd." Incredimail has been controversial in the past, so an alert flag went up immediately. I downloaded the setup file and tried to use (the increasingly becoming dated) Universal Extractor to bust it open so I could examine its EULA. No joy. However, this page: http://www.photojoy.com/safe-and-free-photojoy-download.aspx says: "Since we opened our doors in 1999, our main goal has been to provide enjoyable and safe online products and services. This means we never make use of any bad stuff like spyware or malware - We dont install 3rd party applications, we dont display annoying pop-ups, and we dont collect your personal data. We will never ever do such things! Were not that kind of people." Then their privacy page: http://www.photojoy.com/privacy_policy.aspx?id=10010 says at the beginning: "This statement applies to IncrediMail Ltd.'s ("IncrediMail") information collection and use policies with respect to use of the site currently located at www.PhotoJoy.com (the "Site") and the PhotoJoy Desktop enhancer software (the "Software" or "PhotoJoy"). By using PhotoJoy and/or the Site you consent to the data collection and use practices described in this Statement." further down: "Tell a Friend Service The Software may prompt or otherwise enable you to send an invitation to join PhotoJoy to persons whose contact addresses appear in your address book. Should you elect to do so, we will send an email invitation to join PhotoJoy to the contacts you select and such invitation will appear to be sent from your email account. Any email address that you select or enter in order to send such invitation will only be used by us for sending such invitation and for collecting and compiling statistical non-personally identifiable information." and further still: "GENERAL USAGE PATTERNS IncrediMail may gather information related generally to Users' use of the Software, and Site including without limitation: current wallpaper, current screensaver, PhotoJoy manager open and close time, PhotoJoy tray start and end time. This information, which will only be collected and maintained in aggregate, anonymous form, will be used, among other things, to: Provide IncrediMail with a better understanding of how Users use the Software and the various features thereof; Help IncrediMail to create and provide new services and offerings to Users; and Conduct and publish aggregate, anonymous, market research results. COMPUTER SETTINGS IncrediMail may collect settings, technical and other information from Users' computers, such as a computer's operating system, browser versions used, various communication parameters and other information related to the operation and interaction of the Software, subject to the provisions herein. This information will neither contain nor be linked to any personally identifiable information." This sounds like software I, for one, would stay well clear of, as I do anything from Incredimail. -- John Corliss BS206. I block all Google Groups posts due to Googlespam, and as many posts from anonymous remailers (like x-privat.org for eg.) as possible due to forgeries posted through them. No ad, CD, commercial, cripple, demo, nag, share, spy, time-limited, trial or web wares OR warez for me, please. Adobe Flash sucks, DivX rules.
