From: Paul H on 5 Apr 2010 23:00 The battery on my Dell inspiron 1000 needs to be "recalibrated" or something like that. What is that? How do I initiate it? Will it give new life to my old battery? TIA, Paul

TIA, Paul > You can run a recalibration which basically resets the battery meter to the capabilities of the battery as it ages so it can tell you how long the battery will last. It won't give new life to your old battery as it is a Li ion battery and not an older type nicad which needed deep discharge/recharge to restore it. The 1000 was made in about 2004 so if you still have the original battery for this old Dell, it is time for either a new battery or a new computer. If you need spare parts for your 1000 (other than a battery) I have one that will sell cheap.

TIA, Paul How about looking at the recalibrating a battery section in the manual: http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/ins1000/en/Y69601LRs.pdf
