From: Iga Grzybowska on 12 Aug 2010 09:29 Hello, I installed sendmail from the ports in FreeBSD v.8.0 and configured it according to the Handbook including SMTA authentication. Sendmail starts well from script /etc/rc.d/sendmail. In the boot proccess, I have got many syserrors in the messages: "sm-mta ... opendaemonsocket: daemon IPv4: cannot bind: Address already in use" Finally, sendmail starts and "accepting connections" well. Similar problem is with daemon ntpd which binds always two times in the boot process: ntpd[766]: ntpd 4.2.4p... Fri Apr 2 08:24:19 UTC 2010 ntpd[771]: ntpd 4.2.4p... Fri Apr 2 08:24:19 UTC 2010 ntpd[767]: unable to bind to wildcard socket address 0.0.0.0 - another process and then ntp daemon works well. If I started it from script /etc/rc.d/ntpd everything go well. The two problems might have a common source. I would appreciate for your suggestions. Iga
