Are you sure it's the mini and not the display that has the problem?

My screen goes black when I put my Mini to sleep or shut it off, but it
flashes "NO SIGNAL." If it were my display and it simply turned black,
I'd check power connections. If it still acted up, I'd see about
swapping it to another computer to see if it still acted up.

There was a time when my screen used to turn blue for a few seconds at a
time. Screwing down the video connector fixed that.
