Any suggestions on how to solve the problem without access to a gui? I seem to be facing the same problem on a *nix machine although not an Ubuntu. I've tried specifying is:javahome , is:extract followed by java -jar setup.jar etc according to http://www.mathworks.com/support/solutions/en/data/1-4S5J4N/index.html?solution=1-4S5J4N, but I still get a JVM not found error. Thanks in advance! Hetu
