The way that I solved this problem was by replacing the 'mwmcc.dll', 'mwmcc.ini', and 'mwmcc.dll.csf' files in the v.2010a root with their sister files from the 2009b release. For me, these were located in 'C:\Program Files\MATLAB\R2010a\toolbox\daq\daq\private', and the analogous 2009b directory. I could then register and talk to my MCC USB-1208FS as in previous versions.
