Some will recommend the K-Lite Codec Pack to you, but for me, ffdshow,
Media Player Classic (which supports subtitles, so you don't have to let
ffdshow load the subtitles) and QuickTime Alternative have always done
the trick. I always download ffdshow here:

I don't know if it makes much of a difference, but I always choose
ffdshow SSE since my CPU supports SSE (you can check this with CPU-Z).

Too many versions/releases of ffdshow. Options are not explained when
u install it. Wotchit.

I've always used the default settings for ffdshow SSE. No problems
here...

I would say FFDshow is much more than just a codec pack.
