From: Jenell on 2 Jun 2010 14:12 My Outlook crashes often, and then will not reopen without being in safe mode and scanning all of my files, which takes about 45 minutes. It is now at the point where I will close the program normally, without it crashing, and it still tells me that it did not close properly. Any ideas?
From: Bob I on 2 Jun 2010 15:08 You have some interfering add-in installed? Perhaps an anti-virus e-mail scanner? If so uninstall it. Install the Anti-virus without the e-mail scanning add-in. Is "safe mode": - Outlook's safe mode ("outlook.exe /safe")? - Or Windows' Safe Mode? If you mean Outlook's safe mode, and because the crash doesn't happen, then you have an incompatible add-on that you installed in Outlook. When Outlook loads, it also loads all enabled add-ons. If an add-on hangs or crashes on load then Outlook also hangs or crashes. When Outlook exits, it must first unload all the enabled add-ons. If an add-on hangs or crashes on unload then Outlook also hangs or crashes. Seems you have pretty much identified that you installed an add-on that is causing the crashing and/or corruption of your message store. Get rid of it.
