From: sykes21 on 4 Jun 2010 15:46 Ok, her goes. I'm migrating from SBS 2003 STD to SBS 2008 STD. Running HP ML350 G6. Running VMWARE ESXI 4. I have created my answer file: sbsanswerfile.xml with all info required. I have uploaded the SBS2008.ISO to the data store & I am using that as a virtual CD-ROM. IN the physical CD-ROM is my answer file sbsanswerfile.xml. I'd like to use USB flash stick, but it does not work with VMWARE plus i have ESXI 4 loaded on the internal USB on the system board of the server. I cannot get to the Migration screen.... Windows just want to do the clean install of SBS 2008. What am I doing wrong? Can anyone help me??? Thanks in advance.

I don't think SBS2008 looks at the CD for the answer file (because it's expecting the install media to be there). > I'd like to use USB flash stick, but it does not work with VMWARE > plus i have ESXI 4 loaded on the internal USB on the system board of > the server. > > I cannot get to the Migration screen.... If so, create a blank floppy disk image, attach it to your SBS2003 VM, and save the answer file to that. Now detach it from the 2003 VM, and attach it to the SBS2008 VM instead. If your SBS2003 is physical, you can use various 3rd-party tools to convert a real floppy disk into an image, or use an existing VM that is bootable to copy the answer file to such an image across the network. -- Steve Foster For SSL Certificates, Domains, etc, visit.: https://netshop.virtual-isp.net |
