Is that an OpenFirmware (OpenBoot) limitation, or a Solaris one?

You would either need a USB card with openfirmware, or direct
support in openboot. I don't believe any system which can run
Solaris 8 has this, and I've never heard of an openfirmware USB
card.

Also, I don't think Solaris has support for USB booting until
newboot, which was introduced in S10U6 on sparc, IIRC.

This isn't an area I've played with though, so I may be wrong.
