Likewise many people (and by "many people" I mean "Lew") consider "wanna" just
plain unprofessional lazy writing, but not insulting, at least, not to anyone
other than the writer.

Maybe Roedy consider it insulting to other people to
ask them spend time answering ones question without one
being willing to spend time phrasing the question.

But I would put it this way:
- you are definitely correct about the signals it sends
- whether readers feel insulted or not is individual
- I don't think that many feel insulted, because those that
get insulted by stuff like that would have dropped usenet
a long time ago
