Open a message. Right-click on the ribbon above the groups and choose customize quick access toolbar Select Office Menu Select "Close" and choose add You can also place the QAT below the groups. Close enough? :) From usability perspective, I almost never even open a message in its own window. I use my reading pane almost exclusively. -- Leonid S. From: Diane Poremsky [MVP] on 3 Mar 2010 00:14 I myself use ESC key, but many people use the X button in the upper right of every window. Others use Alt+F4 out of habit (its Close in many programs too.) -- Diane Poremsky [MVP - Outlook] Outlook Tips: http://www.outlook-tips.net/ Outlook & Exchange Solutions Center: http://www.slipstick.com/ Outlook Tips by email: mailto:dailytips-subscribe-request(a)lists.outlooktips.net EMO - a weekly newsletter about Outlook and Exchange: mailto:EMO-NEWSLETTER-SUBSCRIBE-REQUEST(a)PEACH.EASE.LSOFT.COM How many email accounts are in your main Outlook profile? http://forums.slipstick.com/showthread.php?t=36602 "foodman" <foodman(a)discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:25CB2DBB-F866-4B58-8C62-01CB1EAA7B28(a)microsoft.com... > Why don't they have a "close" option in the action box on the e-mail > bibbon? > Did they think CLOSE would not be used very much??? > > Paul
